8 Web Design Mistakes That Are Hurting Your Website

Are you looking for a Website Directory where you can submit your website to? Before you do so, make sure that your website is ready to go, especially in terms of web design. If you are making the following mistakes, you better evaluate your website first before submitting:

  1. Slow page load times
Nothing annoys users more than a website that loads too slow. Check all of your pages for slow page load times. Some of the things that affect speed are multiple images and broken codes. Clean up the page to improve loading speed.
  2. Too many pop-ups
Users also get annoyed with lots of pop-ups. They might even think that they are visiting a potentially dangerous website. As much as possible, avoid the use of pop-ups in your website.
  3. No quality content
Content can directly affect the credibility of your website and, at a certain point, your submission of the website to a Website Gallery. You have to make sure that what you are putting out there is true, accurate and, as much as possible, fresh.

Quality does not only refer to the information. It also refers to how the information is presented. Watch out for typographical or grammatical errors. Double check your content first before posting them into the website.

  4. Overloading the page with animation and effects
While it can be fun and entertaining for your users to see animation and effects on your website, too much may prove to be counter-productive. Overloading the page with these items can slow it down. Additionally, they can be confusing and too much for the eyes to bear.
  5. Confusing navigation flow
The flow of your website from one link to another should be cohesive. The flow within the different pages of the site should be smooth. Otherwise, your target market may get confused, causing them to leave the page and affecting your page traffic.
  6. Using generic photos
People want to be heard by business organizations. You have to make an effort to connect with your customers and establish personal relationships with them. One way to do so is not to use generic photos. If possible, put up photos that show the real people behind the business and more.
  7. No clear call-to-action
A call-to-action can help generate leads and can potentially become a sale. Make sure that all pages have the appropriate, clear and enticing call-to-action.
  8. Not using a responsive design
Nowadays, people use mobile phones to browse the Internet. Not using a responsive design limits your reach to different people.
